Sushi and Sake at Moshi Moshi in Buenos Aires

A little bit of the Japanese culture comes to Buenos Aires with Moshi Moshi. The menu features a variety of high-quality sushi rolls, as well as other dishes traditional to Japan, mixed in with some Thai and Vietnamese cuisine. Don’t get me wrong, I love my steak as much as the next guy, but sometimes mixing it up can be a little fun. (I admit, what convinced me was actually the sake bar… more on that later.)

Moshi Moshi is located in the Las Cañitas area, at the corner of Ortega and Gasset 1707 on the first floor. The decor is pretty sleek and modern: low lighting and large windows the let diners peer out onto the streets.

Renting a Car for Travel in Argentina

The public transportation in Buenos Aires is excellent, and even out into the country the bus/train services are quite reliable and comfortable. However, if you are into doing your own exploring you will want to rent a car. (If you are going to only be in BA, then there is no need to rent a car, as the public transportation is sufficient.) If you want to roam, however, renting a car is an excellent option.

To rent a car in Buenos Aires you must be at least 21 years old, have a valid driver’s license and an international credit card.

On average the price for car rental in Argentina is the same as rental in the states; it costs between Read more

Using the Subway in Buenos Aires

For the quickest transportation in Buenos Aires you will want to try the subway. It is without a doubt the fastest way to travel from point A to point B within the city center, and even to the outskirts of the city.

The route covers 46 kilometers, and has 80 stations. There are 5 subway lines that run through Buenos Aires, and they are identified by letters: A, B, C, D, and E.

The Buenos Aires subway system was the first of its kind in Latin America. The old, original wooden cars ran for a long time on line A, before eventually being sent to a local museum.

The subway system runs Monday to Friday from 6 am to 10 Read more

City Buses in Buenos Aires

Buses are another means of transportation for getting around Buenos Aires.

The large network of city buses is called “Colectivos.” There are 144 different lines in total, and each line is identified with a number and color.

The minimum fare on the bus is $0.80, and the total fare depends on the length of your trip. When you board the bus you tell the driver what your final destination is, and then he punches that information into the ticket machine, giving you the total amount that you owe. You insert your COINS (you must pay with change) into the machine, and a receipt will be printed out.

If you don’t have exact change, insert the coins you have, and wait Read more

Hailing a Taxi Cab in Buenos Aires

If you are feeling up to it, the city is best explored on foot, by train or subway, or even on a bike, however, there are certain circumstances when taking a taxi is the best, or the only option.

Buenos Aires’ taxis are black with the roof painted yellow. You can flag one down by the side of the road or call for a pick-up. Taxis run 24 hours a day.

Each taxi has a digital reader that shows the exact amount of money you have to pay. The initial meter rate is $3.80, and every 200 meters you go costs 0.38 cents.

You can tell if a taxi is available or not by a small red light on the Read more
