If you are feeling up to it, the city is best explored on foot, by train or subway, or even on a bike, however, there are certain circumstances when taking a taxi is the best, or the only option.
Buenos Aires’ taxis are black with the roof painted yellow. You can flag
one down by the side of the road or call for a pick-up. Taxis run 24 hours a day.
Each taxi has a digital reader that shows the exact amount of money you have to pay. The initial meter rate is $3.80, and every 200 meters you go costs 0.38 cents.
You can tell if a taxi is available or not by a small red light on the inside of the car that reads “LIBRE” meaning “free.”
If you are going out late at night, you will want to call a taxi for transportation, as it can be dangerous to navigate public transportation at night.
Don’t get in with a driver who looks shady, and make sure to take note of the driver/car number when you get in, just in case you have any problems.
