Renting a Car for Travel in Argentina

The public transportation in Buenos Aires is excellent, and even out into the country the bus/train services are quite reliable and comfortable. However, if you are into doing your own exploring you will want to rent a car. (If you are going to only be in BA, then there is no need to rent a car, as the public Buenos aires road renting a cartransportation is sufficient.) If you want to roam, however, renting a car is an excellent option.

To rent a car in Buenos Aires you must be at least 21 years old, have a valid driver’s license and an international credit card.

On average the price for car rental in Argentina is the same as rental in the states; it costs between $80 and $150 with unlimited mileage.

The highways in Argentina are mostly in good condition, wide, and have fast lanes as well as toll booths (which is probably why the roads are kept in good shape.

Driving tips: Wear your seatbelt – it is a law in Argentina. Also, don’t turn on a red, unless there is a sign stating you may do so.

For renting a car there are offices at the airport, as well as in the city center. For pricing you can check online with Hertz (www.hertz.com) and Avis (www.avis.com).
